Its one of those magical times when I say “hey guys, help me pay my bills!”.
As some of you know, I do art full time, i live modestly, and just kind of hang out with my cat in my rented room. Life is pretty darned good, really.
So I went to the doctors this morning, for the first time in a long time (not counting emergencies). Some of you probably also know that I struggle a little with repetitive stress injuries in my hand and arm from drawing a whole bunch, but I love what I do!
Well I guess the doctor was less impressed with my work ethic than I was, and ordered me a really big (and expensive) round of medication to help with the pain and swelling and what not, I go in for some x-ray type stuff tomorrow, and he’s already mentioned surgery and long term pain management. Im not sure how long down the road we’re talking, but I’ve already lost a good bit of strength, sensation and range of motion in my wrist and fingers. Not that it stopped me before <.< This is what happens when you ignore your carpel tunnel for 15 years because you have no insurance, and your state did not accept help from the national health care reform.
Basically, I have to draw enough to pay rent, and student loans, and now buy meds (which are not cheap) to help me continue to draw, so that I can continue to bring art to this internet.
Anywho, my commission sheet is always wandering around my front page, and I’d be thrilled to any help you guys can give. You guys do a great public service by supporting us starving artists, and we love you forever <3
